Name: Michelle Rhyder
Job title: Mental Health Service Manager
How long have you worked here: 5 years
Please tell us a bit about your job: In addition to providing treatment to clients, I support the rest of the team in their service delivery. This involves direct supervision with them, attending inter-agency meetings, and meetings internally to ensure we have thorough policies and procedures to support the work our clinicians do with clients.
What do you love about it: I love helping and supporting others, so whether this is working directly with a client or within supervision with the team, I get a lot out of most days at work. I love the variety and challenges each day that South Coastal presents.
And what do you find challenging: Some days can be intense, as we all care a lot about our clients, and can unintentionally take that on a bit too much to help them or ourselves some days.
What puts a smile on your face at work: We are a team that loves to laugh, so whether it is the dad joke of the day, or just a fun chat in the lunch room, there is lots of laughter in the building.
What do you love most about this organisation: I love the mission of the organisation and our efforts to support the most vulnerable in our community. We offer low-cost services so we can ensure there are few barriers to accessing support for our clients. It is a client-centred service and I really love that aspect, as every part of the role is for the benefit of our clients.
What is the most rewarding part of your job: Looking back over the course of treatment and seeing the progress a client has made definitely warms my heart so much.
What is your birthday wish for SCHCS: I hope that SCHCS can continue on its mission for as many years as the local community needs us. I hope we can expand and offer even more than what we are doing now!
